We're at 92 Meehan Street, open Monday to Friday from 8am and Saturday from 8:30am. The kitchen closes at 2pm daily, and we're closed all day Sunday.

The Coffee Is Roasted Next Door

The coffee we use at Trader & Co. comes from Six8 Coffee Roasters — our sister roastery, which roasts on-site. That means the beans aren't sitting in a warehouse for weeks before they get to your cup. It's one of the more practical advantages of having a roastery attached to the cafe.

What's Actually in Your Cup

We use two different coffees in the cafe depending on what you order, and it's worth knowing which is which.

Bohemian goes into all milk-based coffees — your flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos, magic, piccolo, the lot. It's smooth and sweet, which is exactly what you want when milk is involved. It doesn't fight with the flavour of the milk or disappear behind it.

Ethiopian Single Origin is what we use for black coffees and batch brew. It's smooth and fruity with what the roastery describes as a big, juicy mouthfeel. If you've been putting off trying a single origin because you expect something sharp or difficult, this one tends to change minds. It's more approachable than its reputation.

We also serve Decaf — properly drinkable decaf, not an afterthought. It's organic, smooth, sweet, and nutty. People order it because they want it, not just because they have to.

The Milk Coffee Options

The full list is on the menu page, but the regulars tend to land on a few favourites.

The Magic is worth knowing about — it's a small double ristretto flat white, which means a shorter, more concentrated extraction. Less volume, more flavour. Good if you want something with a bit of punch without going full espresso.

The Iced Maple Magic (an oat milk maple iced latte) and the Winter Maple Magic (a hot oat milk maple latte) both get a solid run, especially through the warmer and cooler months respectively. If you haven't tried the iced version on a warm Yass afternoon, it's a decent way to spend a few minutes.

Beyond coffee, we also carry chai, matcha, turmeric latte, hot chocolate, and a full tea range — so if you're coming with someone who doesn't drink coffee, they won't be stuck staring at a short list.

Post-school-drop-off is a busy window for us. People tend to come in, grab a flat white or latte, maybe sit down with a bite to eat, and take a breath before the day starts. It's not a complicated ritual — it's just a good coffee in a place that doesn't rush you out the door.

For travellers coming through on the Hume Highway, we're a manageable detour off the main road. The coffee is worth the stop, and so is the food if you're ready for something more than a servo snack.

One practical tip: if you're planning to eat and drink, aim to arrive before 2pm. The kitchen closes then, but drinks keep going until we close. So if you're cutting it close and just need a coffee, you've still got time.
